This Event: Wed 10/18 Sultana Turkish, Menlo Park Coming Events: Wed 10/18 Sultana Turkish, Menlo Park Wed 10/25 Hu-Chiang Dumpling House, Cupertino Web page for KW schedules, restaurant reviews, etc: www.kabuki-west.org Time: 7:45pm Place: Sultana Turkish Restaurant 1149 El Camino Real Menlo Park, CA 94025 Phone: (650)322-4343 Sultana is a new Turkish restaurant in Menlo Park, where Le Pot au Feu was. There's outdoor seating for warmer weather, and a living-room seating area by the back entrance with some Turkish musical instruments and coffee set. The family who run it used to own Cappadocia restaurant in Redwood City; I'm assuming that's a predecessor to New Kappadokia. Most of the menu is typical Mediterranean - Kebabs, Eggplant, Hummus. There are a number of mixed lamb/beef dishes such as kofte and beyti kebab. Musakka is a bit different from the traditional Greek dish - roughly the same ingredients, but assembled in different order and on rice. Lamb kavurma is a lamb/yogurt/garlic stew. Manti is meat/garlic ravioli. They've got several fish dishes, felafel, imam mayildi eggplant, salads. Appetizers include the usual, with more meat and fried dishes. Sigara Boregi is a fried filo stuffet with feta and parsley. Prices run roughly $12-15 for entrees, $5 for appetizers, except the combo kebab which appears to serve N people. Desserts are baklava and such, plus Turkish coffee, or there's Cafe Borrone across the street by Kepler's. They also do sandwiches at lunch time. KW hasn't been there yet, but Achut liked it. Directions: It's on El Camino Real just north of Santa Cruz Ave. There's a big parking lot behind it, and not much on ECR itself, so I'll give directions to there. 101 to Willow Ave. South (towards Menlo Park) Turn Right on Middlefield, go 0.7 miles Turn Left on Ravenswood, go 0.7 miles Cross El Camino, street name changes to Menlo Ave. Take the first right onto Doyle, Right on Santa Cruz, Left into parking lot (probably calls itself Maloney Ln.) Caltrain stops behind Kepler's, across El Camino. There's also parking back there, if that's easier than behind the restaurant.
