Palo Alto 650-494-7391 Description: Green Elephant is a Chinese/Burmese restaurant. Many of the dishes are familiar Chinese, tending to spicy. The Burmese dishes include a number of curries, seafood such as salt&pepper prawn, coconut (a coconut-chicken soup, coconut rice, etc.), tea leaf salad, ginger salad, several mango dishes, appetizers. Kabuki had never been to Green Elephant - so far our only Burmese restaurant has been Nan Yang in Berkeley/Oakland, so we went there 10/11/06. Overall, we weren't thrilled - there were a few outstanding dishes, but most of the rest was average at best. It's worth making a trip here just for the tea leaf salad - it's at least as good as Nan Yang's, and larger. The samosas were pleasant, and the Green Curry Beef or Pork was good. The Poodi potato curry was similar enough to the other curry that you don't need to order both except for veggie/carnivore balance. Orange beef was ok, and the broccoli provided some balance to the rest of the dishes. I think we also had a coconut chicken soup. The Mango Chicken was bland and flavorless.
